Welcome to Champlain Fire Department
The Champlain Fire Department located in upstate NY has been proudly serving the North Country since 1873. With 42 active members on its current roster, the Champlain Fire Department handles approx. 175 fire calls per year.
At its origin, the fire department was known as the Niagara Hose Company No. 1. The company started with a horse drawn pump and progressed through the years to motorized trucks, finally to what we have today. The membership and the governing body over the membership is still called Niagara Hose Company No. 1 to this day ( as seen on our apparatus).
In 2000, the town of Champlain put into place a Fire District, now known as the Champlain Fire District. The purpose of the district is to maintain fire service to the residents of the Town of Champlain, along with maintain a budget for equipment, training, and apparatus. Currently, the Champlain Fire District is working toward the building of a new fire station. While still in its early phases, we are very excited about this new endeavor.
